[identity profile] hyperscoot.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
you can be my friend, I was about to suggest all of those except kung fu hustle, which I haven't seen yet.

[identity profile] dulcevox.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with all of those. Especially Kung Fu Hustle.

I don't know about the laughing thing BUT I watched the Royal Tanenbaums this weekend and there something about the scene at the end when Royal gives the dog to ben stiller's character and stiller's character says "It's been a tough year dad." Something in his voice right then the way it sounded actually made me get all teary. Don't know why it just did.

The ones I *always* go back to when I want to laugh are L.A. Story (my favoritest romantic comedy ever) and Real Genius (which I quote more than any other single movie).

The Hot Chick, Ace Ventura 2: The part where he emerges from the rhino's ass, Galaxy Quest

UGH! I insult myself by forgetting!!

Super Troopers!

[identity profile] hartman.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, you took mine.

Nothing makes me laugh harder than a large cop asking for a "Liter of Cola"

a kid asking "do you want to dipisize your meal for only a quarter" to which the cop replies "how about I punchasize your face for free"

[identity profile] dredd713.livejournal.com 2005-05-04 03:04 am (UTC)(link)

Old School, unrated version

[identity profile] jennytheonly.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Crying: Big Fish, Dead Poet's Society, Old Yeller.

Laughing: Eddie Izzard, The God of Cookery (and probably Shaolin Soccer, but I haven't seen that yet.) The Big Hit.

And, for some of both; Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Caddy Shack.

To cry? I always, always go to The Joy Luck Club. Wow. Every time. I dunno why.

To laugh? I second Real Genius, add a vote for Wayne's World, and also suggest Saved!, Empire Records and Can't Hardly Wait.

If laughter through tears is your favorite emotion, you can't wrong with Steel Magnolias. Ever. Always a winner.

Um, you wanna make/find an icon for a friend of mine? :)

She'd probably like an un-animated one, and has told me that she likes flowers, angels, sunsets, and the ocean.

I was thinking of making her an icon of a sunset on the ocean in which an angel is swimming with a bouquet of daffodils(lol aren't I funny?).

No, for real... I've been looking and can only find icons that are gothy(she's christian and a mommy) or of sexy, sexy celebrities. Help?

[identity profile] sparklypoof.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a lot of icons that could work for that, that're bases/icons 've created and posted over in [livejournal.com profile] _amandaland_

girls with wings

rain and shine

hawaii (oceans and sunsets) (and made by katt)

springtime

...and there's prolly sommore in there somewheres back in 2004 that could fit what she's looking for. most (if not all) of these are just bases that can be modified for whatever purpose she has in mind.

hope these help!!

Igby Goes Down will make you do both.

And I have a fondness in my heart for Old School.

There's always anything involving Muppets.

Laugh: The Emperor's New Groove
Cry: Saving Private Ryan

[identity profile] kittenkatt.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Laughing: The Sweetest Thing: Unrated Version
Crying: The Notebook

Though if you watch Mortal Kombat instead you'll neither laugh nor cry, but instead air-chop karate style all night.

If you are sufficiently unbalanced
The other sister or freddy got fingered can make you do both.

[identity profile] anarcha.livejournal.com 2005-05-03 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Crying: The Black Stallion; Donnie Darko

Laugh: Clerks

Want a good cry? Tape your eyelids open and go see the new Star Wars flick.
